Dear Class of 2020

Dear Class of 2020 is a short COVID-19 special of the FOX animated sit-com, The Simpsons.

Plot[]

In the year 2020, during the coronavirus outbreak, The Simpsons do a livestream from home, dressed in graduation caps and gowns, all congratulating students and scholars from all over the world, who have graduated that year and unfortunately, do not get to celebrate their graduation with any well-deserved senior trips, at risk of contracting COVID-19. In this message, Lisa does most of the talking, while the other family members all screw around in their own ways, contributing nothing of value to the livestream. Homer struggles to put on his graduation robe, with his head being too fat to fit through the “damn” neck hole. Marge suffers from an extreme case of cabin fever from being trapped in the kitchen for months on end with nothing to do. Bart sits silently for most of the video but eventually pulls down his pants, revealing "2020" to be written on his buttcheeks and Maggie doesn't seem to be present at all. Having to pretty much carry the entire livestream by herself, Lisa gets nervous and struggles to find words of wisdom. However, she does eventually state that one positive thing people can learn from being in quarantine is how to celebrate family togetherness. Homer cuts a hole in his sweater and accidentally sticks the scissors up his nose, hurting himself and causing him to fall to the floor. Trying to get someone else involved, Lisa tries to ask Marge to contribute but completely braindead, Marge just repeatedly mumbles "I can't cook anymore" like a shell-shocked veteran. Lisa asks Bart if there's anything he'd like to add, leading to Bart mooning the audience. Lisa gives up on trying to ask for the family's advice and mutes everyone else and puts herself on full screen. Lisa lists all of the positives that have come from COVID-19. She says that because nobody's out driving anymore, pollution has been reduced and the air is cleaner than ever before. Homer Simpson enters her room and says that another upside to quarantine is that drinking beer at 10:00 in the morning is not only acceptable but encouraged as it's considered by society to be "coping with quarantine". Feeling as though she's earned the right to tell a few jokes, Lisa says that thanks to quarantine, not having friends over can be seen as a wise choice, rather than an outcome of her having no friends. Homer says that everyone who graduated high school now has the opportunity to move out of their parents' basement and get a job, working from home in their parents' basement. Lisa says that because of COVID-19, people are eating less meat and animal shelters have found homes for all their pets. Homer adds that the two are not connected. To wrap things up, Homer shouts out "Live From New York, It's Saturday Night!" as though he were on SNL but Lisa corrects him that they're neither in New York nor is it Saturday. Lastly, Homer closes off the video by saying something intelligent for once, reminding the audience to love their neighbors, even if their neighbor happens to be Flanders.
